Inventeurs de « Kraut Rock », extraordinaires iconoclastes, Faust sont des figures mythiques et incontournables de l’Histoire du rock et de la pop, aux côtés de CAN ou de Kraftwerk. Entre industrial noise, krautrock et expérimentations orientées vers l’électronique, le groupe enregistre ses premiers disques pour la firme Polydor-Allemagne : Faust (1971), So Far (1972), puis pour Virgin Records : Faust Tapes (1973), Faust IV (1974)
Reformé en 1990, le groupe publie plusieurs albums (dont « Rien » produit par Jim O’Rourke) sur les labels Table of The Elements, puis Klangbad et Staubgold.

JULIAN SARTORIUS solo
Julian Sartorius, batteur suisse qu’on voit aux côtés de Sophie Hunger ou de Colin Vallon est un instrumentiste extraordinaire, un véritable artiste du son. Un « Beat » par jour pendant une année : voilà le défi qu’il s’était lancé le 1er janvier 2011. Les règles étaient: aucun effet électronique, aucun échantillon pré-enregistré, chaque coup doit être joué, chaque son réel. Seuls les overdubs sont autorisés. « Beat Diary », ce journal intime, disponible en intégral sous forme analogique, contient 365 « Beats » accompagnés de 365 photos, le tout sur 12 vinyles.
En première partie de Faust, Julian Sartorius nous offrira dans un court espace-temps une architecture rythmique, construite comme une improvisation intime et surréaliste au moyen de sa batterie et de ses accessoires qui narrent une histoire sans fin où l’on se perd avec délice.

Inventors of ‘Kraut Rock’, iconoclasts extraordinaire, Faust are key figures in 20th Century music. In the early 70’s, along with Can and Kraftwerk, they re-invented pop music as a specifically European art-form. Virtually imprisoned by Polydor in their own studio for two years, they were able to revolutionize the whole process of musical production; they improvised with Industrial noise, generated bizarre hypnotic grooves, indulged in shockingly wilful studio-based collages, and dabbled with every conceivable musical genre, sometimes simultaneously!
